Conventional Home Loans in Oklahoma
A fixed rate mortgage with predictable payments and the flexibility to put down what works for you. Our Oklahoma mortgage team guides you every step of the way.
Is a Conventional Loan Right for You?
Conventional home loans fit buyers with steady income and established credit who want the lowest long-term cost. If that’s you, the numbers usually work in your favor, and if not, we’ll tell you which loan program fits better.
Fixed Rate for Life
Enjoy one rate, one monthly payment, and zero surprises – for the entire term of your home loan.
Flexible Down Payment
As low as 3% for qualified buyers. While many buyers make larger down payments, it’s not necessary to put 20% down.
PMI That Retires
Mortgage insurance is not required with a 20% down payment. If you put less down, PMI can be removed when you reach 20% equity.
How Does a Conventional Loan Work?
A conventional fixed-rate mortgage keeps the same interest rate for the life of the loan. While many buyers put down more, a 20% down payment is not required.

Have questions about conventional mortgages? We have answers! Check the FAQ below for more information about home loans.
What is Mortgage Spot?
Mortgage Spot is the home loan brand of Communication Federal Credit Union, a not-for-profit credit union serving Oklahoma since 1939. Every loan is originated and funded by CFCU – we’re simply the front door for home loans.
Do I have to be a credit union member to apply?
No. Anyone in our service area can start an application, and if you move forward, we set up your membership as part of the loan process – it takes just a few minutes.
What types of home loans do you offer?
We offer conventional, FHA, and VA purchase loans, first-time homebuyer options, land loans, rate-and-term and cash-out refinancing, and home equity loans.
How do I get pre-approved, and how long does it take?
Start online or talk to a loan officer. With your documents in hand, most pre-approvals move quickly.
What will my interest rate be?
Rates depend on your credit, loan type, down payment, and loan term. You can see today’s posted rates anytime on our rates page, and a loan officer can give you a quote for your exact situation.
How much home can I afford?
Our affordability calculator gives you a quick estimate in about a minute – no personal information required. When you’re ready, a loan officer can work with you on a real pre-approval, which will give you more accurate numbers.
What documents will I need?
You will typically need recent pay stubs, W-2s or tax returns, bank statements, and a photo ID. Self-employed buyers usually add two years of tax returns. Your loan officer will send you a simple checklist.
